8 Of The Best Stoner Movies And Shows To Watch High On Netflix

Saturday is April 4, 2020. Or put another way, this Saturday is 4/4/2020. Not since April 20, 420 ― 10 years after the Visgoths ransacked Rome ― has the calendar offered a double “420,” if you will. Today is also April Fools’ Day and the world continues to be under the existential threat of the coronavirus pandemic, so just bear with me here.

In the spirit of all of the above, I’ve curated a list of stoner movies and shows to watch on Netflix today, Saturday or any day during this period of self-isolation. Various U.S. cities have deemed marijuana dispensaries as “essential” during the shutdown. I wish you luck in acquiring the right accompaniment to these streaming recs.

Unfortunately, such classic stoner movies as “Dazed and Confused” and “Pineapple Express” aren’t on Netflix. But the service has at least a few greats. And, of course, almost half of the things listed here involve Seth Rogen.

And if you want to stay informed of the movies and shows joining Netflix every week, subscribe to the Streamline newsletter.

Netflix and super chill on the upcoming 4/4/2020.

7 Best Marijuana-Related Titles on Netflix Right Now

After a long day of work, everyone likes to sit down on the couch and finally enjoy some Netflix. And maybe you enjoy your Netflix experience with a little cannabis as well. If that’s the case, then here are the seven best marijuana-related titles on Netflix you can watch right now:

1. Walk Hard: The Dewy Cox Story

It’s not really a stoner movie, but Walk Hard does feature one of the best scenes related to marijuana when one character warns Dewey to never try cannabis while at the same time explaining how it’s safer than every other drug and alcohol.

2. Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay

While the original Harold & Kumar isn’t on Netflix, this sequel is. It may not be as as good as the original, but if you’re just looking for a silly movie with lots of weed jokes, this is as good as any.

3. Weeds

Before Breaking Bad there was Weeds, a show about a woman who begins selling marijuana to support her family. The critically acclaimed show could also serve as a good reason why cannabis should be made legal as well.

4. Sausage Party

It’s a freaking movie about talking hot dogs written by Seth Rogen. If this doesn’t quality as a stoner movie, I don’t know what does.

5. That’s 70’s Show

That 70’s Show was an awesome comedy on Fox that parodied life in the 1970’s. It also featured a bunch of teenagers who loved smoking pot. If you haven’t seen it already, you need to check it out.

6. Super High Me

10 years later, Super High Me isn’t quite a reflection of the current state of the marijuana industry. But it is funny to see a comedian test his various mental and physical abilities after one month of not using marijuana and one month of constantly using marijuana.

7. Wet Hot American Summer

Netflix offers three different offerings in the Wet Hot American Summer universe. There’s the original movie as a parody of summer camp films, the TV show prequel and then the TV show sequel. The goofy and bizarre humor of the show and movie (there’s a talking can for crying out loud) is perfect for stoners everywhere.
