Hemp Cheese

You love to be healthy. You also love to use eco-friendly materials. And, you love cheese. What’s the best way to combine all of these? Hemp cheese, of course.

A non-dairy product, hemp cheese is made from hemp seeds and tastes delicious.

What is hemp cheese?

Preservative-free and all-natural, hemp cheese is a perfect substitute for cheese. Now, we’re not going to promise that you can get the same stinky cheese flavor out of this vegan option.

Nor can it get quite as moldy as blue cheese (unless you leave it out for far too long). However, it is delicious land you can use it on a variety of dishes.

You can add it to anything you would normally enjoy with cheese, including pizza, salads, crackers, or dips.

Cheese lovers can testify that there is always a need for a cheese that’s easier on your digestion. Well, this dairy-free option could be the answer for you.

Furthermore, it’s filled with lots of awesome minerals and vitamins, so you get a healthier option that is ideal for vegans and vegetarians.

Also, this is a great option for people with allergies. Hemp is hypoallergenic so you can enjoy this product even if you have sensitivities to dairy or gluten.

People make hemp cheese using the seeds of the hemp plant. These seeds contain oils that are very flavorful. Additionally, the seeds contain many nutrients as well as protein.

It’s not a completely neutral taste, though. It does taste a little nutty. But that’s great since nuts go very well with cheese.

After you taste it, you may fall in love with it. And if you are interested in making this natural cheese yourself, you’re in luck. You can do it right from the comfort of your home.

How do I make hemp cheese?

You can make this green cheese using three ingredients: hemp seeds, hemp milk, and yeast. Don’t worry, the cheese isn’t actually green. It’s just environmentally friendly.

Once you mix these three ingredients together you can experiment with adding other things as well.

Just blending these ingredients will give you a spreadable type of cheese. However, some recipes require you to incubate the yeast. It takes a bit more time, but you’ll also get more of that cheesy flavor if you do that.

Hemp cheese can also be made with hemp hearts to substitute the hemp seeds. Adding a few drops of CBD oil to your hemp cheese can also be a welcome addition to the recipe.

As more people embrace hemp there are more great products, which is fantastic for the industry.

Benefits of hemp cheese

If you’re following a vegan diet, you probably already know about nut cheeses that use cashews or almonds. But perhaps you haven’t heard of hemp cheese.

Don’t be afraid to try it out. Also, it’s a great option for those who love cheese but can’t eat it due to allergies.

As it is plant-based, hemp cheese is non-dairy which means the lactose intolerant can eat it to their heart’s content.

The hemp seeds in the cheese are nutritious and full of amino acids and minerals. In fact, the omega 3 and omega 6 acids occur in an ideal ratio for supporting heart health.

Other components include soluble and insoluble fiber which help to improve health and keep you regular. And who doesn’t want to be regular in that way?

Dairy-free options are great for the body even if you aren’t allergic. Also, as allergies grow in today’s world natural and sustainable options are wonderful options to add to your diet.

Hemp seeds and CBD oil that can be added to the cheese are readily available and easily grown via the hemp plant, making the product sustainable. A lot of the hemp available today is also fair trade and ethically sourced.

Where can I get some?

Unfortunately, this is a pretty niche product. You might be able to find some at your local specialty health food store. Then again, you might not.

It’s also a bit hard to find online. The easiest way to get it might be to make it yourself. For a couple of recipe ideas, check out this garlic and dill hemp cheese or this herb cashew recipe.

Enjoying products made from hemp supports a growing industry and provides alternatives to a common mass-produced items. That’s something for you to feel good about.
