Joyo D-Seed Dual Channel Digital Delay – Digital Delay On a Whole New Level
For advanced players in pursuit of an affordable delay pedal that will deliver results worthy of their skill, Joyo has crafted D-Seed, a four-mode digital delay pedal with top-notch quality.
This pedal basically contains all the essential functions for seasoned musicians. It’s far away from the basic beginner stuff, but it doesn’t delve deep into the fancy minute tricks available on high-end models. Many see this as everything any player needs from a delay pedal. Let’s dissect this bad boy now!
The device operates as a dual channel delay, with the ability to dial in separate and independent settings for each of the channels. It has a very strong noise gate that doesn’t allow in even the slightest hum, and also utilizes the true bypass feature. Considering the strong metal casing slightly larger size of 4.1 x 1.8 x 4 inches, the 1.2 pounds weight can be classified as somewhat lighter.
Apart from that, we are looking at a single In and one Out jack, along with an external trigger input that allows external devices switch the pedal’s channel. In the aesthetic department, the stompbox is plain white, nice and clean. The device can’t be powered with batteries, meaning that only adapters will work.
The item features four control knobs, all of which are quite standard – Mix, Mode, Time, and Feedback.
Mix – Determines the level of delay effect infused into your audio output. The more you crank it up, the less natural clean sound of your guitar and more delay effect you will get.
Mode – Essentially a switch between one of the basic four delay modes of the stompbox: Copy (standard default delay sound), Analog (more warmth, more low-pass filtering), Reverse (delayed signal gets played forwards and backwards, fun stuff), and Modulation (modulation added, suitable for chorus-like effect). These are the foundations of your delay sound, so make sure to test each one out and see which suits you best.
Time – Used to adjust the delay time, ranging anywhere between 17 milliseconds and a very impressive figure of 1000 milliseconds, or a whole second.
Feedback – Determining the length and mass of each single delay; the more you add it, the more echo and feedback you’ll get.
For the listed price, this is top-level stuff. From the moment you take it out of the box, this pedal feels strong and sturdy as a tank. The surprise only extends to the sonic realm, as the sound is really at the highest possible level. For the listed price, which rarely crosses the $100 mark, this is top-notch stuff. Natural, organic, effective and versatile, not much else we can ask from a pedal, really.
Overall, testing this puppy out was a pleasant surprise and a genuine joyride. We enjoyed every moment here and we can say that this device is worthy of any player. As long as four modes and basic, yet quality control level sounds good to you, this is the one to choose. The sound is great, the build quality is top level, and the overall impression is quite positive. A thumbs up from here!
