About Charlotte’s Web Seeds

Background

Everything began with Charlotte Figi.

Charlotte was born in 2006 and experienced her first seizure at 3-months old. Soon after, Charlotte was diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome. By age 5, Charlotte’s situation was rapidly deteriorating and experienced upwards of 300 seizures per week.

In 2011, The Stanley brothers were in the process of breeding a new type of cannabis strain in Colorado, USA. Instead of seeking sky-high THC levels, the Stanley brothers sought to create a low-THC and high-CBD strain. The Stanley brothers accomplished this feat by crossing a low-THC cannabis strain to a high-CBD hemp cultivar.

The result was Hippie’s Disappointment. Although this strain wasn’t sought after by cannabis connoisseurs due to its lack of THC — it immediately drew interest among medical marijuana patients.

One of those that jumped at the chance to try the oil from Hippie’s Disappointment was none other than Charlotte’s mother. In 2012, Charlotte began taking daily doses of Hippie’s Disappointment CBD oil.

Charlotte went from 300 seizures a week to 2-3 per month. Doctors around the world were shocked by the improvement, and Hippie’s Disappointment quickly turned into Charlotte’s Web.

From this point forward, high-CBD strains came into fashion and quickly changed the perspective of cannabis among politicians, physicians, and law enforcement. Incredibly, Charlotte’s story reshaped laws and regulations around cannabis use.

Charlotte’s story helped the image of hemp, but it also played a significant role in the passing of certain medical marijuana laws in the USA.

Soon after, Charlotte’s Web became an immediate hit among individuals with mental and physical issues. Whether you’re a medical marijuana patient or not, anyone and everyone can benefit from growing Charlotte’s Web seeds.

Currently, Charlotte’s Web seeds are immensely popular worldwide, especially throughout the USA and Amsterdam. If you have a chance to buy Charlotte’s Web seeds, consider yourself lucky because this is a challenging strain to find.

Growing Charlotte’s Web Seeds

Before we begin our review, you must understand the difference between hemp strains and cannabis strains.

First, Charlotte’s Web is a hemp cultivar. Hemp is cannabis; however, it is a subspecies of Cannabis sativa. Hemp is notable for its lack of THC and abundance of CBD. Traditional cannabis strains are high in THC and very low in CBD.

Besides the difference between THC and CBD ratios, hemp and cannabis plants contain the same traits. As you grow your Charlotte’s Web seeds, you’ll quickly notice that you can’t tell the difference between the Charlotte’s Web strain and any other cannabis strain.

Remember, the primary difference is in the cannabinoid content.

Grow Difficulty:

The Charlotte’s Web strain is easy to moderate to grow.

Before the release of Charlotte’s Web seeds, the Charlotte’s Web strain was a proprietary clone-only variety. However, hemp cultivars are industrial crops by nature, which means they are relatively straightforward to grow.

As long as you treat your Charlotte’s Web crop the same as any other cannabis strain, you will have a successful harvest. The challenge isn’t the cultivation process — it’s stopping yourself from sampling one of the delicate flowers before they ripen.

Optimal Growing Conditions and Climate:

The Charlotte’s Web strain prefers an abundance of sunshine and a Meditteranean climate. The best temperature range is 70-85°F and relative humidity of 40%.

If you decide to grow your Charlotte’s Web seeds outdoors, it’s best to germinate the seeds indoors. Charlotte’s Web seeds prefer natural sunlight, and you will experience the best results under the protection of a greenhouse.

If you grow your Charlotte’s Web seeds indoors, you must space your plants accordingly. You must set your environmental controller to keep the optimal temperature and moisture range for the best results.

Remember, 70-85°F is a guideline, and the Charlotte’s Web strain can accommodate higher and lower temperatures. However, if your crop experiences an extreme on either end of the temperature spectrum, your eventual harvest may suffer.

Flowering Time:

The Charlotte’s Web strain flowers in 9-10-weeks.

If you grow your Charlotte’s Web seeds indoors, harvest time will come earlier than expected. Harvest time depends on the phenotype, but you may begin to harvest by the 8th-week indoors. If you decide to grow your Charlotte’s Web seeds outdoors, you will harvest by the middle of October.

Once again, these estimates are rough guidelines, and you should always utilize a loupe. Check the trichome color to determine if your Charlotte’s Web weed is ready for harvest.

Yield:

However, the CBD inside Charlotte’s Web weed is potent, and a little goes a long way. If you grow Charlotte’s Web seeds indoors, expect a harvest of 400-grams and above. If you grow Charlotte’s Web seeds outdoors, anticipate over 450-grams per plant.

Overall, Charlotte’s Web provides enough weed to stock your medicine cabinet for the long months ahead.

Height:

Although the Charlotte’s Web strain is classified as a sativa-dominant hybrid — the height isn’t all that sativa-ish.

The Charlotte’s Web strain grows to a maximum height of 6′. This may be too high for some indoor growers, but cultivators can manage the height with the FIM, topping, and LST techniques.

Furthermore, the Charlotte’s Web strain is bushy. What it lacks in height, it makes up for in width. Always remember to space your plants accordingly to avoid any issues with mildew and mold.

Resistance to Pests and Mold:

The Charlotte’s Web strain is moderate to highly resistant to common diseases and pests. The Charlotte’s Web strain is predominantly a hemp cultivar and is suitable for large-scale agricultural production.

Typically, hemp cultivars can take a wide range of abuse. Charlotte’s Web is no exception, and you will notice that it can withstand the pressure of the great outdoors. You must provide an exceptional environment and provide the necessary nutrition to avoid any pest or disease outbreaks.

Consider these tips to protect your Charlotte’s Web crop:

  • Always clean your garden of debris
  • Trim the lowest quarter to promote increased ventilation (lollipop)
  • Incorporate dehumidifiers and air conditioning systems
  • Do not overwater
  • Do not overfeed
  • Always wear clean clothes into the garden
  • Always use organic Neem oil as a preventative

Dominant Terpenes Found in Charlotte’s Web Seeds:

Unlike high-THC cannabis strains that are bred to produce lip-smacking aromas and flavors, Charlotte’s Web’s purpose is specific: medicine.

However, most users are surprised by the mellow terpenes in Charlotte’s Web seeds. The three dominant terpenes are myrcene, pinene, and caryophyllene.

As the three of these terpenes swirl across your senses, you’ll notice a breeze of floral notes, spiced Chai, early morning dew, and pine. The aroma and flavor profile is pleasant and leagues away from loud pack strains.

The myrcene in Charlotte’s Web seeds promotes a delicate touch of blooming flowers in the summer. The caryophyllene is responsible for the lightly spiced aroma. Lastly, the pinene presents a fresh pine-like aroma that quickly brightens the mood.

I have tried numerous strains over the course of my life, and every one has caused be some degree of paranoia. EVERY ONE. Every one except for this one. Maybe that’s due to its relative dearth of THC. Maybe it’s due to the excess of CBD. Maybe both; I don’t know. But I know that when I drink, I don’t always want to chug hard liquor. Sometimes I just want a beer or two. Similarly, I don’t always want to get high as a kite. But most contemporary strains today are more akin to vodka than beer: unless you’re very careful, you will get very stoned very quickly. Personally, I don’t EVER want to get “high as a kite,” because of the aforementioned problems with paranoia, so this is perfect for me (but don’t let the “2% THC” fool you—this strain can feel a little stronger than that low percentage would indicate). It’s the only strain I would even consider using socially. Highly recommended.

Charlotte’s Angel CBD Feminised Seeds

CBD Charlotte’s Angel is a new high CBD, low THC medicinal cannabis strain from Dutch Passion. This is an all-Dutch affair with the breeding parents selected from high-CBD Dutch Charlotte and the Amsterdam clone-only Red Angel CBD strain. Growers can expect bumper harvests from this sativa-dominant plant.

CBD Charlotte’s Angel takes approximately 9 – 12 weeks to finish flowering but the extra wait is more than worthwhile as yields are very high with this strain. The finished buds exude a pleasant herbal smell with notes of pine and diesel. CBD levels can range between 10 – 16% with a likely average of 15%. THC content, in contrast, is very low indeed – less than 1% with an average of 0.7%. This means that patients, especially the very young, frail or old, can medicate without any risk of getting high, something that many people who can benefit from medical marijuana have concerns about.

Resin production is high making it a very solution for those wanting to produce high-CBD, low-THC concentrates. The effect is deeply satisfying on a physical level as it serves to relax the body promoting a feeling of well-being and calm while also having anti-anxiety properties. Dutch Passion have also discovered an unexpected bonus for heavy recreational smokers/vapers in that it really satisfies the “craving” for a smoke without getting the user high – something that isn’t always desiired even by the most ardent enthusiast. In this manner it can help to reduce tolerance to cannabis and consequently consumption as well.
