How to Make Your Own Cannabis Lube

With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the ideal time to start thinking about kicking things up a notch in the bedroom. Sex is meant to be fun and adventurous so why not experiment with cannabis lube?

Our friends at The Her(b) Life created an easy DIY canna-lube recipe. Curious about how it works and how to make your own? Here’s the lowdown:

While it won’t hurt men to use this lube the effects won’t be the same for him. Women can expect to experience a warm tingling and heightened sensations while men usually report feeling less sensation – however, some men report prolonged performance so there’s that potential benefit too.

Why not just use regular lube? Well, because when you add cannabis to your lubricant and apply it topically the THC causes blood to flow to your genitals which in turn increases sensations. This recipe can also help relax muscles and in some cases prevent pain (ideal for those who suffer from painful intercourse).

Note: In some cases, it can take up to 30-40 minutes to feel the effects so while it takes a bit of the spontaneity out of the situation now you have an excuse to
excuse yourself and get prepped. Of course this lube is great for solo play as well!

Additional Note: Oils traditionally do not mix well with latex so maybe look for a condom made with alternative materials!

  • A slow cooker
  • A funnel and cheesecloth
  • Jar or airtight container
  • 1 cup coconut oil or sweet almond oil
  • 1 gram of hash or 1 cup of flower – Be sure to decarboxylate the flower first (grind it up, spread it on a baking sheet and cook in the oven for 40 + minutes at 225 degrees)
  • A few drops of essential oil. Your preference
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon liquid sunflower lecithin

Combine the decarboxylated cannabis and oil in the slow cooker. Set to low and stir every hour or so. Allow to cook for 3-4 hours.

Optional: You can choose to add 1 tablespoon liquid sunflower lecithin to increase thickness and you’ll wind up with a finished product that has a syrupy consistency.

Once finished, strain the plant matter out of the oil using a cheesecloth inside a large funnel as you drain the oil into a jar. Be sure to get it all or else you may find leftover matter to be an irritant. Squeeze the cheesecloth to wring every last drop of oil out.

Add a few drops of essential oil such as ylang ylang or jasmine. Peppermint or black pepper essential oil can add a little heat if that’s your flavour.

Store in an air tight container. Enjoy responsibly.

Finally, an Easy-to-Follow Recipe for Homemade Weed Lube

Is there any pairing more hyped-up than weed and sex?

Most of you know by now that it’s possible to get your vagina high with weed lube (or get yourself debilitatingly high by drinking it)—but did you know that you can make your own at home? Take your Weed Week celebration to the bedroom, enjoy the benefits of increased sensitivity and stimulation, and get yours! (But remember: this weed lube does not mix well with latex condoms, so try another material or go solo on this one.)

Here’s what you’ll need to make weed lube: weed, scale, grinder, cheesecloth, hair tie, two jars, coconut oil, water, aloe, wooden spoon, tongs, and a pot

Step One: Measure 2-3 grams of weed

Step Two: Bring the water in a pot to a boil

Step Three: In a jar, mix weed with 3-4 tablespoons of coconut oil

Step Four: Seal the jar, and put it in the boiling water using tongs

Step Five: Let it simmer for about two hours

Step Six: Squeeze about a quarter cup of gel from your aloe leaves into your second jar

Step Seven: Cover the jar containing aloe with cheesecloth and secure the cloth around the jar using the hair tie, leaving a sort of pocket in the cloth to catch the weed

Step Eight: Using your tongs, remove the jar from the boiling water and allow it to cool a little bit. Remove the lid and pour the contents through the cheesecloth filter and into the aloe jar

Step Nine: Strain oil through the cheesecloth and squeeze the remaining oil out of the weed

Step Ten: Mix the contents together and allow it to cool down

The consistency of the lube might seem strange at first, but it’ll take on the qualities of coconut oil as it cools down. When it’s time to use your weed lube, warm it up in your hands and voila! Romance in a jar.
